About the Client

  • The City of Bayswater is a local government authority located in Western Australia, serving over 75k residents.
  • As a local council, it provides essential services and support to its community, managing public infrastructure, community programs, and resident enquiries.
  • The City is committed to enhancing community engagement and service delivery through the adoption of modern, citizen-focused technologies.

The Opportunity

The City of Bayswater faced challenges with its legacy telephony infrastructure, including increasing costs, lack of features and an inability to integrate with other communications platforms and systems in use across departments.
The City commenced a comprehensive procurement process to identify a modern communications solution to revolutionise business and community service outcomes.
The City needed a partner to design and deploy a solution that understood their existing operational challenges, both within the contact centre and the broader business, while also supporting bold steps towards innovation, managing costs and complexity.

Our Solution

Phase 1 “Base Launch”

Deploy a foundational Amazon Connect solution for main support phone number enquiries and the core contact centre team. Key features included main contact flows with IVRs, out-ofhours IVR, emergency flows, text-to-voice, voicemail setup, virtual hold, and call recordings. In addition, a voicemail extension was set up for 20 City of Bayswater hard phone users, and 30 Quick Connects for high volume external transfers.

Phase 2 Advanced UC Roll Out (In Deployment)

Detailed design and deployment of the replacement of the City’s existing physical phone network. This replacement included the migration to Microsoft Teams Phone service, to remove the bulk of the physical handsets.
To achieve this, Contacx has worked closely with the City’s technology team and existing vendors to design a fully cloud UC solution that tightly integrates with Amazon Connect. Our advanced UC solution is highly cost effective, reducing existing hardware and providing a significant uplift in capability.

Future Phases “Optimisation”

Future phases include website live chat, QnABot, Contact Lens for call categorisation, TechnologyOne integration, PCI DSS integrated payments, and task automation.

The Conclusion

The City of Bayswater successfully deployed a foundational Amazon Connect solution which has laid the groundwork for future advanced features. The City of Bayswater are set to embark on a range of automation and innovation projects that will see a material reduction in costs and customer experience uplifts.
